AMAL: Middle Eastern Woman between 30 to 45 years old. Amal is a Lebanese mid 30’s to early 40’s professional woman, very cultured and has had a corporate career in Marketing. She is a professional consultant/speaker/trainer and has worked with the InterContinental hotel group in Lyon on several launches and corporate events, so knows the Hotel well, and gets on very well with the staff. She’s always dressed effortlessly elegantly and exudes a charm and charisma that belies her business-savvy mind and laser focus on detail. She’s married and has one son, who is at college. She is bilingual and also does competitive running to a high-level.
OSCAR: between 28 to 36 years old BritishOscar is in his early 30’s, a British assistant manager from within the InterContinental Hotel group and has been seconded to the Hotel Dieu to earn his stripes under the watchful eye of his mentor, the manager of the Hotel. He’s ambitious, respectful, hard-working and has the ability to mix at all levels of society which makes him a popular member of the team. He’s single and is in Lyon for a six-month attachment. He plays piano, sings and is also a competitive tennis player.
Non Speaking Roles
ANNA: Violinist Asian Woman 28 to 36 years old Anna is from China, single, and has trained her whole life to become a sought-after soloist for recitals all around the world. She travels regularly and prizes the attention to detail that a hotel can give her to make her stay all the more relaxing. Because of the pressure of her performance schedule, she values efficiency in getting her needs met, as well as the ability to have special moments to relax and prepare. For the scenario in this film, she is about to perform a new contemporary piece that has been composed specially for her. She had gone out at night to seek some fresh air and inspiration, but got lost. Her innate perfectionism makes her momentarily lose her composure, which the hotel so elegantly rises to the occasion to alleviate.
FAISAL: 38 to 45 years old. Faisal is a wealth manager from an Abu Dhabi-based investment corporation and travels regularly to meet clients whose portfolios he’s managing. He prizes discretion and enjoys the relative peace and quiet his hotels of choice offer him when he’s travelling for work. He works across time zones, so works long hours, and expectshotelstoalsoofferthisserviceparticularlyforhisbusinessandadministrationneeds. Heonly occasionally brings his son with him on a work trip, when he’s sure that the itinerary offers him some time to spend one-on-one. However, as he’s travelling a lot he misses his son and is trying to get to know him better. He prizes family as one of life’s greatest assets.
